El Teatro Leal, en La Laguna, acogió esta tarde el acto de entrega de estos galardones de 2022 por parte del Ejecutivo autonómico
Ángel Víctor Torres destacó la labor de los premiados y premiadas, “personas que contribuyen a mantener vivas nuestras tradiciones” y manifestó que estas modalidades deportivas simbolizan lo que es ser canario, y forman parte de nuestra identidad”
El Gobierno de Canarias reconoció hoy, lunes 23 de mayo, la labor de divulgación de los deportes y juegos motores autóctonos y tradicionales con un total de diez premios, concedidos a especialistas en las distintas modalidades vernáculas, que han contribuido a lo largo de su vida a mantener y fomentar la práctica de estas actividades y, en consecuencia, las tradiciones y costumbres de las Islas.
El Teatro Leal de San Cristóbal de La Laguna fue el escenario elegido para celebrar el acto institucional de entrega de los galardones, que se retoma después de dos años de parón por la pandemia y que se enmarca en el programa de actividades conmemorativas del Día de Canarias, que se celebra cada 30 de mayo.
Durante la gala, el presidente de Canarias, Ángel Víctor Torres señaló que estos deportes “forman parte de nuestro pasado, presente, y debemos garantizar que formen parte de nuestro futuro; los niños y las niñas juegan desde que nacen y, en este sentido, el deporte es también un juego que nos hace felices, por eso es fundamental que estas actividades se lleven a todos los centros educativos de Infantil, Primaria y Secundaria, para que permanezcan en nuestro ideario e incluso los podamos exportar a otros lugares, y esta sea una manera más de protegerlos”.
“Premiamos hoy aquí a muchas personas anónimas que contribuyen a mantener vivas nuestras tradiciones, y tenemos que ser capaces de ser dignos y dignas de aquello que nos aportan; estas modalidades deportivas autóctonas y tradicionales simbolizan lo que es ser canario y forman parte de nuestra identidad”, agregó Torres.
Por su parte, la viceconsejera de Educación, Universidades y Deportes del Gobierno de Canarias, María Dolores Rodríguez, destacó la trayectoria de las personas distinguidas, que han destacado por su labor en pro de la difusión de estos deportes y juegos, y aseguró que estas prácticas “forman parte de nuestro pasado y deben estar en nuestro futuro, porque son consustanciales a nuestra identidad, a lo que ha sido y es este pueblo”.
Las personas premiadas en esta tercera edición fueron Rosa Isabel Concepción Díaz en el arrastre canario, Manuel Jesús García Fuentes en la bola canaria, Ángel Miguel Perdomo Rodríguez en el juego del palo, José Ruano Pérez en la lucha canaria, Gregorio Díaz Lorenzo en el salto del pastor, Francisco Javier Díaz Vargas en la lucha del garrote, Jacinto Rodríguez en colombofilia, Faustino Cebral Alemán en la vela latina de botes y Estanislao Betancourt Carrasco en los barquillos de vela latina.
El jurado otorgó el Premio Pedro Molina, que distingue a la persona o entidad que destaca por su labor creadora, de difusión, conocimiento, estudio o docencia, sobre los deportes y juegos motores autóctonos y tradicionales de Canarias, a José Hernández Moreno, docente investigador en el Departamento de Educación Física de la Universidad de Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, por su inestimable trabajo de divulgación, especialmente orientada a la lucha canaria.
En representación de los galardonados y galardonadas, Tino Cebral indicó que “es de agradecer el esfuerzo del Gobierno de Canarias por recuperar estos premios que reconocen la labor no solo de todas las personas distinguidas en este acto de hoy, si no de todas aquellas que, día tras día, trabajan y se dedican a mantener viva nuestras tradiciones”. “Mi enhorabuena a todas ellas por ser maestras y maestros, desde cada una de sus modalidades y en cada una de las islas”, añadió durante su intervención, que concluyó animando a todos los asistentes al evento a “creer en nuestros deportes y juegos”.
A la cita asistieron también la vicepresidenta del Cabildo Insular de Tenerife, Berta María Pérez Hernández; la consejera y el director insular de Deportes, Concepción Rivero y Ángel Luis Pérez, el el alcalde de San Cristóbal de La Laguna, Luis Yeray Rodríguez, el director general de Ganadería del ejecutivo autonómico, Taishet Fuentes, y la presidenta del Organismo Autónomo de Deportes del Ayuntamiento de La Laguna, Idaira Afonso, entre otras autoridades. Además, estuvieron en el acto representantes de las federaciones de todas las modalidades que han presentado candidaturas a estos galardones en su edición de 2022.
